Former European Commissioner Meglena Kouneva who ended third in the October presidential elections, announced the establishment of the Bulgaria for Citizens Association.
Among the founders of the association are public figures of the National Movement for Stability and Progress, the party initially formed around former monarch Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha, online news portal Sofia Echo reported.
The new formation aims to initiate and actively participate in a debate on Bulgaria's national priorities, Sofia Echo cited Kuneva as saying. It was not set up to participate in elections, Kuneva added.
Kuneva also said that the association was a Bulgarian equivalent of the Europe for Citizens 2007-2013 programme which encourages people to be active European citizens.
