A major international company has expressed interest in obtaining a concession on the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna, the economy ministry said.
The company, which was not named, has a logistics centre in the country and plans to open two more, the ministry said in a statement without providing additional details.
Last year, the transport minister said it was preparing to award a concession contract for the port of Varna in 2012, as private management would be a better option for its development.
The port of Varna generated a profit of 4.0 million levs ($2.65 million/2.05 million euro) in 2011, when it handled 9.1 million tonnes of cargo.
