Bulgaria hopes to save about 140,000 jobs by supporting up to 5,000 employees per month through the EU's Support to mitigate Unemployment Risks in an Emergency (SURE) instrument, prime minister Boyko Borissov said on Tuesday.
The government has proposed to parliament to ratify the agreement for a 511 million euro ($620.8 million) loan under the SURE instrument, Borissov said on his Facebook profile. The loan will have a term of up to 15 years.
The government approved the loan agreement last month.
The SURE instrument is available to EU member states that need to mobilise significant financial resources to fight the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
