Lenders drag Sofia bourse blue-chip index lower, Fibank falls most

Banks led blue-chip decliners on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange on Monday, as the overall bearish mood on stock markets caught up with them after they ended last week on a high note.The two blue-chip lenders - First Investment Bank (Fibank) and Central Cooperative Bank (CCB) lost 10.61% and 6.14%, respectively, on Monday. The two banks enjoyed hefty rises in their share price on Thursday and Friday last week, after the country's central bank announced a set of measures worth 9.3 billion levs aimed at supporting the sector amid the coronavirus crisis.The blue-chip SOFIX index, which tracks the performance of 15 companies, fell 1.48% to 406.90 points on Monday.The wider BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, decreased 1.12% to 86.40 points, while the BGTR30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, erased 1.81% to 413.16 points.The BGREIT index, which tracks real estate investment trusts, slid 0.89% to 124.30 points.Total regulated market trading turnover remained high, and amounted to 1.1 million levs on Monday.
