Greece's government named lawyer Katerina Savvaidou as the country's top tax official on Monday following the surprising resignation of her predecessor, Reuters reported.
Harry Theoharis stepped down this month citing personal reasons. His resignation raised concerns in the EU that continuity of reforms to improve the efficiency of the state sector will be ensured, the news agency noted.
A senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Greece, Savvaidou, 42, studied law in Athens and public tax and finance law in Paris. She has also worked as an adviser at the finance ministry and as a tax adviser in the private sector.
