Labour costs in Bulgaria

Hourly labour costs in Bulgaria went up by 12.1% year-on-year in the last quarter of 2021, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Tuesday, citing preliminary data.

Salary costs added 12.7% on the year in the fourth quarter, while other labour costs went up by 9.4%, the NSI said in a statement.

The hourly labour costs increased by 11.8% in industry, 11.4% in services and 14.4% in construction.

The breakdown by economic activities showed that total labour costs rose the most in the sector of administrative and support service activities, by 17.9%, followed by culture, sports and entertainment, with 17.8%, and human health and social work activities with 17.6%.

A decrease in total labour costs was recorded in real estate activities - by 2.3%, the NSI said.
