Romania and Bulgaria recorded the highest increase in hourly labour costs in 2019 among European Union member states, the bloc's statistical office said.
Labour costs in Romania rose 13.1% in 2019, while in Bulgaria they grew by 11.7%, Eurostat said in a statement on Tuesday.
However, the two countries still had the lowest hourly labour costs in the EU last year - of 6 euro in Bulgaria and 7.7 euro in Romania.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, hourly labour costs in Croatia rose by 3.4% to 11.1 euro last year, while they added 5.1% to 19 euro in Slovenia.
