It's Not in the Interest of Any Bank to Proceed with Home Foreclosures, NBG Head Says

"It is not in the interest of any bank to proceed with home foreclosures," Hellenic Bank Association president and National Bank board chairwoman Louka Katseli said on Monday, in statements to a local television station.
She underlined that no Greek bank will sell its loan portfolio to foreign funds. She explained that banks in 2016 will not be the same as banks were in 2010 and will ensure that borrowers with non-performing mortgages will find a solution in cooperation with the banks.
Moreover, Katseli expressed optimism that unprecedented capital controls will be lifted in 2016, adding that citizens in the country have started to "gradually" return their savings to local banks.
