What is of top priority in the current situation is to be effective, stated Interior Minister Panos Skourletis in an interview with Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Sunday referring to the government's civil protection plan.
On the new agency that will be responsible for the emergency conditions, Skourletis said that "the main rationale of the plan presented is to try to integrate in the operation of the agency, through the establishment of a new independent agency for emergency conditions and natural disasters, the scientific knowledge and the experience along with the experience in the management of these conditions".
Skourletis also noted that "the policy of extreme austerity created problems in the last years" also in the firefighting sector. On the housing policy, he accused the previous governments that they made part of their policy the favours which opened to door to arbitrariness.
Referring to the economy and the post-memorandum landscape, Skourletis quoting a series of economic indicators, he said he believe that "things for Greece are obviously much better than 2010 and 2015 and we can be more optimistic.
