Installed Capacity of Solar Plants in Bulgaria Jumps 85% in 2012

The installed capacity of solar plants in Bulgaria jumped 85% to 1,013 megawatts (MW) in 2012, data from the country’s Electricity System Operator (ESO) indicated.

Total installed capacity of wind energy rose 24% to 677 MW.Renewable energy sources had a 27.75% share of overall installed capacity, which stood at 13,759 MW at end-2012.

A total of 47 million megawatthours (MWh) of electricity were generated last year. Wind farms generated 1.2 million MWh, against 800,700 MWh generated by solar plants.
