Parliament set up on Wednesday an ad hoc committee of inquiry into the pardons, public debt write-off deals and Bulgarian nationality status decisions made by former Vice President Angel Marin during his two consecutive five-year terms in office.
The proposal was approved with 105 MPs voting in favour, 46 against and one abstained, state-run Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) said on Wednesday.
Doubts about the legitimacy of Marin's decision arose several weeks ago when it emerged that former president Georgi Purvanov had not issued a decree granting the vice president power to bestow pardons and Bulgarian nationality to foreign citizens after the end of their first term in office.
