Incumbents Adopt Four-Year Governance Programme
Thursday, 03 August 2017
At its weekly meeting on Wednesday, the Bulgarian government adopted its programme for governance in the period 2017-2021, the Council of Ministers press service reported.
The programme identifies 20 areas in which the power-holders will be implementing a total of 65 political priorities and 902 measures in order to achieve the main objectives of the ruling coalition. The watchwords are: incomes, security, economic progress, freedom and democracy, a strong spirit of enterprise, and transparent governance.
By adopting the programme, the government reaffirmed its commitments to ensure sustainable income growth, curb negative demographic tendencies, minimize the risks and deal with the threats to national security, ensure an effective, expeditious and fair judicial system, implement a decisive policy to wipe out illiteracy, improve the nation's health, take care of the country's energy security, and boost economic growth and competitiveness.
A separate priority is to reduce the administrative burden on individuals and businesses and develop electronic government. The pursuit of open governance will provide citizens and their organizations with opportunities to share in the country's governance and will raise their awareness of the functioning of the Establishment.
