Implementation of Bulgarian Projects in the Gas Sector Will Develop the Energy Market in the Region: Energy Minister

"The implementation of all projects in the Bulgarian gas sector will develop the energy market in Southeast Europe. Bulgarian government is working intensively to build its energy market.” That is what Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said, speaking at the opening of the international conference themed “Transformation of energy markets and Russia's role in the global energy balance", which is held in Moscow. 
The forum is organized within the framework of the annual edition of the international exhibition of equipment and innovations in exploration, production and processing in the oil and gas industry, the press centre of the Ministry of Energy announced.
Bulgarian Energy Minister informed the forum participants that energy market in Bulgaria will move to full liberalization in the beginning of 2016. 
“At the same time, in Bulgarian will begin development of market segment for trading natural gas,” Minister Petkova said. 
“As an EU member state, Bulgaria follows the priorities of the European Energy Union - ensuring security of energy supply, construction of the internal energy market. Our goal is to build in Bulgaria competitive energy market with access of all interested parties and energy resources to be offered at competitive prices and high quality,” she added. 
Considering the possibility of diversification of sources, the government has developed the concept of building a gas hub in Bulgaria. According to Minister Petkova our country has a number of advantages for the project. 
“The natural route of gas flows passes through Bulgaria from the east and south, our gas distribution infrastructure is well developed, the gas depot in Chiren is being modernized and expanded. For the purposes of distribution centre Bulgaria relies on three sources of natural gas, we hope one of them to be the Russian natural gas,” the Minister said further. 
“Every successful energy market needs interconnection connectivity, therefore, work on the construction of gas interconnection between Bulgaria and the neighbouring countries continues,” she added.
