IMF, WB Praise Bulgaria Fiscal Policy, Growth

Bulgaria has been hailed by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund for its fiscal policy and accelerated economic growth over the past year and a half, Bulgarian Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov has said after his meetings on the sidelines of the annual forum of the two institutions underway in Washington, according to a Finance Ministry release. Goranov quotes WB Vice President Cyril Muller as saying that Bulgaria has had impressive performance compared to what it was two years ago. This country has been acknowledged as one of the countries with the best macroeconomic indices in East Europe. The WB has said it is satisfied with the evaluation of commercial banks in Bulgaria and the stress tests that followed. The IMF Deputy Managing Director Mitsuhiro Furusawa has in turn appreciated increased collectability and the decreasing deficit which is encouraging for expectations of a balanced budget in two years from now..
