The city of Athens could attract more than one million tourists annually after completion of an ambitious investment project in Hellinikon, Odisseas Athanassiou, chief executive of Lamda Development, said, as quoted by the Athens News Agency -Maceonian Press Agency.

The project will create around 15,000 jobs during the investment period, and 50,000 direct and indirect jobs upon its completion, Athanassiou said.

Tax revenues for the state will surpass 2.0 billion euro annually, while total direct investments from the exploitation of the area of the former international airport in Hellinikon will surpass 6.0 billion euro, Athanasiou added.

The site on which the Hellinikon project will be developed is more than three times larger than Monaco, more than two times the size of Hyde Park in London and almost two times the size of central part in New York.
