HBCB Business Breakfast with Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism

Yesterday, on the 22nd of January, a Business Breakfast with the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Mr. Delyan Dobrev took place in Sredetz Hall of Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan. The topic of the meeting  was  the Economical situation in Bulgaria 2013 - Investment policy - Energy strategy - Infrastructural projects.

The Ambassador of Greece in Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Thrasyvoulos Stamatopoulos opened the meeting wishing HBCB a successful 2013.

After being introduced by the Executive Director of HBCB Mr. Minko Gerdjikov, Mr. Dobrev briefed the directions of the Ministry's activity focusing on the efforts of the Government to encourage export-oriented industries, to reduce energy prices and to develop tourism.

After minister Dobrev's review, Deputy Chairman of HBCB and Country Manager of Alpha Bank Bulgaria Mr. Evangelos Lytras opened a discussion where the following important issues were raised:

  • Feasibility of foreign investments in the Bulgarian economy in 2013
  • Predictability of government policy on legislative measures affecting foreign investments
  • Government measures to combat gray economy in fuel imports
  • Opportunity for better absorption of EU funds from large investors in Bulgaria
  • Infrastructure projects that are planned to be implemented by the government in 2013
  • The energy strategy of the Bulgarian Government

The event was followed by a meeting between minister Dobrev and the Board of HBCB where possibilities to further increase cooperation between HBCB and Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism were discussed and specified.
