Bulgaria halted electricity exports early Friday morning amid a domestic supply crunch caused by the ongoing cold wave, the country's economy and energy ministry said.
Electricity exports will be suspended as of 1 a.m. local time on Friday due to an average shortage of around 400 megawatts an hour, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday evening.
All available power reserves have been activated, including reserves at hydro power stations, the ministry said.
Bulgaria exports electricity to all its neighbours, Greece included.
