Greek Unemployment Rate Fell to 17.6 Pct in April

Greek unemployment rate fell to 17.6 pct of the workforce in April from 18.2 pct in March and 19.8 pct in April last year, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said in a report on Thursday.  The number of unemployed people totaled 833,858 in April, down 107,290 from the same month in 2018 (a decline of 11.4 pct) and a decline of 26,925 or 3.1 pct compared with March 2019. The number of employed people totaled 3,891,618, up 74,993 or 2.0 pct compared with April 2018. The unemployment rate among women was 21.7 pct from 24.4 pct in April 2018, while among men it fell to 14.5 pct from 16.1 pct.
