Greece's Alpha Bank said its pre-tax profit from operations in Bulgaria rose by an annual 61.3% to 3.5 million euro ($4.8 million) in the first quarter of 2014.
Operating income in Bulgaria increased by 19.6% over the year to 12.9 million euro in January-March, Alpha Bank said in a quarterly report on Thursday.
Alpha Bank operated 86 branches at the end of March and employed 768 in Bulgaria.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), Alpha Bank is also present in Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania. It SEE pre-tax loss shrank to 39.5 million euro in January-March from 43 million euro for the same period in 2013.
