Greece is following Turkish statements of its supposed approach to Egypt, say diplomatic sources

Greece is following statements by the Turkish foreign affairs minister concerning a supposed invitation by Turkey to Egypt for the delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone between these two countries, Greek diplomatic sources observed on Saturday.

The Turkish foreign minister's statements have not yet sparked a response, according to Arab media, sources added.

At the same time, the Egyptian foreign minister's comments at the recent Arab League foreign ministers' meeting were "particularly sharp", they noted.

In specifics, sources pointed out that Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry said Egypt has made every effort to contribute in establishing peace and security in Libya and also towards "dealing with the obscurantist ideas promoted by some countries".

Shoukry had also said that the Arab Ministerial Committee has also convened to monitor Turkish interventions, they added. It was during the same meeting when the definitive rejection of Turkish interventions in the region were confirmed, including the presence of Turkish military forces in Arab countries. Shoukry had then said these policies do little else but deepen polarizations and differences, diplomatic sources highlighted.

The Arab League's special committee which investigates Turkish interventions into the interior affairs of Arab countries comprises Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrein, Iraq and the Arab League's General Secretary, was added.
