Government spokesperson Yiannis Economou in an interview with ANT1 on Saturday stressed the need for vaccination.
"I think the key is, and the experts keep telling us, that we have the tools in our hands, mainly the vaccine, but also the other drugs to deal with the coronavirus. The major thing is that our fellow human beings (our fellow citizens and especially the most vulnerable) stop insisting on a completely inexplicable choice to remain unvaccinated", he said.
Regarding whether the unvaccinated health employees will remain in the health system, Economou replied that the terms and rules that apply to the health workers and their obligation to be vaccinated are already known.
He acknowledged that the national health system needs interventions and upgrades but added: "A lot of important work has been done in the last two years, everyone understands that. No one else in such a short time has strengthened the health system as this government, in terms of ICUs, staff. But this does not mean that the problems and pathogenesis of the previous years were zeroed or canceled."
