Govt Refunds 504.5 Mln Levs in VAT in Aug

Bulgaria’s government refunded 504.5 million leva in Value Added Tax (VAT) to 8,024 companies in August, the finance ministry said, quoting data of the National Revenue Agency.
A total of 7,530 companies were paid up to 100,000 levs in refunded VAT, the ministry said.
In the beginning of July the finance ministry took urgent steps to make more efficient the VAT refunding process. These included adhering strictly to the law-prescribed refunding deadlines, paying back VAT in the order by which the tax returns filed, and analyzing the structure of non-refunded VAT, the ministry recalled.
