GLOBUL, GERMANOS TO JOIN EARTH HOUR FOR A FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Once again, GLOBUL and GERMANOS will support the annual Earth Hour initiative of the international environmental organization WWF. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 20:30 to 21:30.

During Earth Hour 2013, GLOBUL and GERMANOS will turn off the electric lighting at their office buildings and shops all over the country. In addition, a total of 16 GLOBUL neon advertising signs in Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Russe, Pleven, Yambol, Dobrich and Shumen will also be switched off for an hour. Only the systems providing the seamless network operation and customer service will be left online.

GLOBUL and GERMANOS also run an active information campaign to encourage their subscribers, employees and partners to join Earth Hour as well.

The global initiative started in 2007 and its popularity has grown extremely fast. In 2012, a total of 7000 cities in 152 countries around the world including 74 cities in Bulgaria adopted the event. This year, over 100 Bulgarian towns have confirmed their participation in Earth Hour. For a second consecutive year, the campaign uses the I Will If You Will YouTube platform where participants share their personal challenges in order to encourage more people to commit to a more sustainable behavior. Earth Hour ambassadors in Bulgaria Yulian Vergov, Kalin Velyov, Martin Zaimov and Mihail Stefanov already shared their I Will If You Will challenges.
