German company IFS plans to build a 40 million euro ($54.1 million) football stadium in Sofia, business newspaper Capital Daily reported.
The stadium, to be located in Ovcha Kupel residential area, will have a capacity of 24,000 and is expected to open in July 2016.
“This is our first investment in Eastern Europe. We want to show that it is possible to build a stadium with private resources only in this region,” Claus Binz, managing director of IFS said.
The construction and management of the stadium will be carried out by a subsidiary of IFS, which will be registered in Bulgaria.
