Former prime minister George Papandreou said that he "lost one of (his) own people," after the death of Fofi Gennimata, leader of Movement for Change (KINAL), on Monday from cancer.
Gennimata's father was a close colleague of PASOK founder Andreas Papandreou. "With Fofi we were not simply fighting side by side - we shared many happy and bitter moments in life and politics. I lost one of my own people," George Papandreou said, adding that Gennimata "fought all these years for the party up to the very last, with unbelievably courage, despite the health issues she faced, as did her father and mother."
"Let us be inspired by her dignity and her serious attitude in her life and political career," he added.
