Gennimata accuses gov't of lacking a prevention and immediate response plan

Opposition Μovement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata, in a statement on Wednesday, criticised the government over the lack, as she claimed, of a plan for the prevention and immediate response to fires, noting that "control was lost in Varybobi".
The damage inflicted by the fires to property and the environment throughout the country was huge, she added, though there were fortunately no deaths. "The civil protection system was tested and has failed once again," Gennimata said, both in Attica and in Achaia and many other regions of Greece.
Finally, she expressed her unequivocal support for the fire-stricken and firefigthers, police, municipalities and volunteers that "battled and continued to battle the flames to protect us".
