Czech trolleybus manufacturer Skoda Electric signed a $1.2 billion (909.4 million euro) deal to deliver 100 trolleybuses to four cities in Bulgaria - Burgas, Varna, Stara Zagora and Pleven.
"Our company has succeeded on the Bulgarian market not long after we signed the contract for fifty vehicles to the country's capital Sofia. Under the new contract, however, we will produce vehicles type Skoda 26 Tr. 22 pieces are designed for Burgas, 40 pieces for Pleven, 30 pieces for Varna and 8 pieces will go to Stara Zagora," Karel Majer, head of the trolleybus division of Skoda Electric, said.
In June Bulgaria's capital Sofia signed a 27.5 million euro deal with Skoda Electric for the supply of 50 new low-floor articulated trolleybuses. The deal will be funded under the EU-backed operational programme Regional Development 2007-2013.
