The number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria rose by an annual 4% to 619,900 in December, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday. Citizens of EU member states accounted for 56.6% of all arrivals of international visitors in December, the NSI said in a monthly report on tourist numbers. Vacation trips made up 35.4% of all foreign tourist visits in December, while business trips accounted for 18.3%. The number of people who visited friends or relatives in Bulgaria or just transited the country constituted 46.3% of all arrivals of foreign nationals in December. In December, the largest share of foreign tourists came from Romania, Greece and Turkey.
