The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in February decreased by 52.6% year-on-year to 240,900, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday.
Citizens of EU member states made up 40.7% of all arrivals of international visitors in the second month of 2021, or 56.4% less on an annual comparison basis, NSI said in a monthly report on tourist numbers.
The NSI said it registered a decline in arrivals of citizens from all of the observed countries in the month under review with the exception of arrivals from the Czech Republic, which showed a 76.1% increase compared to February 2020.
The number of people who visited friends or relatives in Bulgaria or just transited the country represented 64.1% of all arrivals of foreign nationals in February. Vacation trips made up 16.4% of all international visitors' arrivals in February, while business trips accounted for 19.5%.
