Foreign Tourist Arrivals in Bulgaria Rise 4.4% Y/Y in Aug

Foreign tourist arrivals in Bulgaria totalled 1.71 million in August, up 4.4% on the year, official statistics showed.
Nationals of EU member states accounted for 61.7% of foreign tourist arrivals in Bulgaria last month, the National Statistics Institute said in a press release. Their number increased by 0.3% on the year to 1,055,751.
In August, the most significant annual increase was registered in the number of tourists arriving from Denmark and Greece, up by 6.1% and 4.3%, respectively.
Tourist arrivals from European non-EU member states went up by 10.6% on the year to 513,107 in August, as visitors from Russia and Ukraine increased by 15.5% and 13.3%, respectively.
As many as 63.6% of all foreign tourists who arrived in Bulgaria last month were holidaymakers, 31.2% were visiting friends or relatives or just transiting the country and 5.2% came on business.
