Foreign Tourist Arrivals in Bulgaria Rise 1.2% Y/Y in April

Foreign tourist arrivals in Bulgaria totalled 467,200 in April, up 1.2% on the year, official statistics showed.
Nationals of EU member states accounted for 58.2% of foreign tourist arrivals in Bulgaria last month, the National Statistics Institute said in a press release. Their number increased by 1.1% on the year to 137,903.
In April, the most significant annual increase was registered in the number of tourists arriving from Germany and France, up by 13.9% and 13.1%, respectively.
Tourist arrivals from European non-EU member states went up by 1.6% on the year to over 167,446 in April, as visitors from Russia and Serbia increased by 18.4% and 8.1%, respectively.
As many as 35.8% of all foreign tourists who arrived in Bulgaria last month, were holidaymakers, 46.5% were visiting friends or relatives, or just transiting the country and 17.7% came for business reasons.
