Irina Bokova is Bulgaria’s candidate for the seat of UN Secretary General. Today, at a press conference in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rayko Raychev, head of Global Affairs general directorate, announced that the team in support of Bokova’s candidature consists of 16 Bulgarian diplomats. For the campaign the team is to dispose of 50 thousand euros. Irina Bokova was nominated for the position of Secretary General of the UN with a letter of Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov on February 9, 2016. The mandate of current UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon expires on December 31.
