Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó had a joint press conference after their meeting downtown Sofia. “We see no obstacle for the European institutions to initiate Bulgaria’s Schengen accession, as the state has achieved a lot in this direction,” Mr. Szijjártó said. In his words, no one in Europe can say over the past months that Bulgaria isn’t prepared for the refugee crisis. According to Minister Mitov the additional actions should include the imposing of strict control over the EU external border from the Greek side. Later on Mr. Szijjártó met PM Boyko Borissov, who said that Hungary was a wanted investor in Bulgaria and there was pending potential in this relation. The pm marked the work of the government for diversification in the energy sphere and commenting the migration pressure he added that the efforts should be concentrated on the initial reasons for that migration. Borissov welcomed the idea for the restoration of the direct Sofia – Budapest airline.
