Dubai-based airline Flydubai said it has recorded strong growth in passenger traffic from Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia in 2018. "Flydubai increased the number of passengers carried from Bulgaria by 56%, from Romania by 45%, from Russia by 42%, from Serbia by 35% and from Ukraine by 2%," the company said in a statement on Wednesday. The airline operates flights linking Dubai to Bulgaria's Sofia, Serbia's Belgrade and Romania's Bucharest. As a result of strong demand in previous years, Flydubai operated a number of flights to seasonal summer destinations such as Montenegro's Tivat and launched a seasonal flight to Croatia's Dubrovnik last year, the company said. Flydubai recorded annual revenue of $1.7 billion in 2018, up 12.4%.
