First Cruiseship of 2019 Arrives at Chania

The 2019 cruise season for Chania, Crete has opened earlier than any other year, with the arrival of the newly-built cruiseship VIKING JUPITER at the port of Souda on Monday.
The 230m-long cruiseship is carrying 950 passengers and a crew of 490 and is going to depart from Chania at 18:30 on Monday, bound for the Peloponnesian port of Katakolo in the prefecture of Ilia.
Accoding to Chania port, 130 requests for the docking of cruiseships at Souda have been submitted so far while the number of passeners is expected to exceed 200,000.
Ten cruiseships are expected to dock at Souda in the months of March and April while the last cruiseship arrival for 2019 has been scheduled for December 23.
