FinMin Proposes Investors of over 102,000 Euro to Get Citizenship Easily

Finance minister Simeon Dyankov proposed streamlining the procedure of granting Bulgarian citizenship to foreigners who invest over 200,000 levs ($128,200/102,300 euro) in the country.

Dyankov came up with this proposal last week at a government meeting which approved amendments to the Bulgarian Citizenship Act, including the terms under which foreign investors are granted preferential treatment, local daily Dnevnik reported. A separate ordinance of the economy and finance ministries will determine the size of an investment that would allow a foreigner to easily get Bulgarian citizenship.

"[When drafting the amendments] we complied with the practice in other EU countries," Dnevnik quoted Dyankov as saying.
