Bulgaria's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.1 per cent in April 2010 and the year-on-year inflation figure for the first four months of the year was 1.8 per cent, National Statistical Institute data showed on January 14.Non-food prices rose by 4.1 per cent for the month on the back of an overall 20.8 per cent increase in tobacco and spirits prices, which where pushed higher by new excise duties. Food prices were down by 0.5 per cent and service prices were flat.The harmonised consumer price index, the figure calculated by the statistics board for comparison with inflation in the European Union, was 1.2 per cent higher in April and the year-on-year figure was three per cent at the end of the month.For 2010, the Cabinet set a harmonised inflation target of 2.2 per cent.
