HBCB participated in a conference organized by "The Economist Events"

HBCB was among the partners of a conference organized by The Economist Events and was present with its own stand.
Mr. George Roussos, Secretary General of the Hellenic Business Council in Bulgaria ( HBCB ) and CEO of INTRACOM Bulgaria was among the experts who presented report at the conference "THE EU-BALKAN SUMMIT: Paving the road to recovery and growth " It was held in October 2012. The conference was attended by prominent politicians and economists from the Balkan regiom and Europe. Among them were the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Plamen Oresharski , the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Milorad Dodik, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Dimitris Kourkoulas and others. The executive director of HBCB Minko Gerdjikov was also among the guests.
Mr. Roussos gave a speech in the panel “Economic and business climate in the Balkans over the next decade". His report was divided into three parts – future economic trends, their outcoming business requirements from local governments and the responsibilities of the business.
According to his forecast in the Balkan countries are about to emerge industries that will create preconditions for co attracting of strategic investors from economically developed countries outside the EU, such as Russia, China, India, USA, South Korea and for possibility of lot of additional funds under the EU operational programs that will improve the business climate in the region.
In the second part of his speech, Mr. Roussos indicated the stability of governments and the predictability of the market environment as an important precondition to improve the investment climate. He called for the simplification of procedural and administrative barriers to business, for reducing of licensing administration;
He ended his speech optimistically : "The joint efforts of business and government will contribute to more effective absorption of EU funds in the new programming period 2014-2012.”
