On December 12th, 2019, HBCB organized a business breakfast meeting with H.E. Mr Dimitris Chronopoulos, Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria and Mr Theodosios Vallas, Minister Plenipotentiary for Economic and Commercial Affairs. Moderator of the meeting was Mr. Minko Gerdjikov, Executive Director of HBCB.
The event was hosted at the elegant renovated Serdika hall of Sofia hotel Balkan and was attended by more than 80 Greek and Bulgarian managers and HBCB members and representatives from the Greek Embassy. Special guest was Mr. Andreas Beikos, Head of Office European International Bank Group Office for Bulgaria.
Mr. Minko Gerdjikov opened the floor with welcoming words. He pointed that meeting’s goal is to introduce the New Greek Ambassador and Minister Plenipotentiary for Economic and Commercial Affairs to the HBCB members. Still they are expected to expose the main issues of their forthcoming term as well as to be discussed the most important questions representatives from Greek and Bulgarian businesses may have.
The Chairman of HBCB Mr. Stamatis Theodoropoulos welcomed the guests and thanked H.E. Mr Chronopoulos and Mr Vallas for accepting the invitation.
In his speech H. E. Mr Chronopoulos focused on the contribution of Greek entrepreneurs to the business environment and economy of Bulgaria, as well as to improving the country's economic performance. He also stressed the importance of interaction between the economies and markets of both Greece and Bulgaria and the countries of the region to stimulate their development and prosperity, creating conditions for sustainable growth.
Minister Plenipotentiary for Economic and Commercial Affairs Mr. Theodosios Vallas reviewed the Bulgarian-Greek economic relations as well as the prospects for their future development.
The Chief Executive Director of Postbank Mr. Asen Yagodin informed the audience about the inclusion of Piraeus Bank's acquisition of assets and stressed on the importance of the bank's activity as the only Greek bank in the country.
At the end the Head of European International Bank for Bulgaria Mr. Andreas Beikos presented the opportunities for Greek businesses for cooperation with EIB as well.
