European Investments for Sofia Metro Extension

The European Commission has approved an investment of over 368 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund in order to support the construction of a new metro line in Sofia. The project aims at building a new 8-kilometer metro line and eight new stations. Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for "Budget and Human Resources," Kristalina Georgieva, said that the Sofia Metro was one of the best examples of how funds from the EU budget could help people live better." Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Crețu has once again pointed out the positive effects of EU structural and investment funds in Bulgaria.
