EU Foreign Policy Chief Mogherini To Meet with Bulgaria’s PM, President in Sofia

Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, will meet with President Rosen Plevneliev and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in Sofia on Thursday.
Mogherini will arrive in Sofia for the annual meeting of Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister, Daniel Mitov, with the Bulgarian Ambassadors, scheduled to take place on July 23-24 at the Boyana State Residence.
Mogherini will meet with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at the Council of Ministers headquarters and then with President Rosen Plevneliev at the President’s Office, according to the press office of the Bulgarian President.
The agenda of the first day of the meeting includes issues related to the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (November 2015 – May 2016) and the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council (July-December 2018).
The talks will also revolve around the cooperation of the Bulgarian diplomatic service and the European External Action Service and Bulgaria’s Presidency of the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEECP), according to a media statement of Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry.
On the second day of the forum, the talks will focus on the cooperation of Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry with the individual ministries and departments on the implementation of the foreign policy, with special emphasis on priority spheres such as energy, tourism, the rights and interests of Bulgarians abroad, and the country’s external economic policy.
