The EU's industrial producer prices edged down by a monthly 0.2% in December but were 1.9% higher on the year, Eurostat figures showed.
Euro area industrial producer prices also inched down by 0.2% month-on-month in December, while on an annual basis they increased by 2.1%.
Prices in total industry excluding the energy sector went up by an annual 1.6% in December, in both the euro area and the EU. Prices in the energy sector rose by 3.7% in the euro area and were 2.6% higher across the EU.
The largest annual growth in the total index in December was observed in Belgium, by 6.4%, followed by Bulgaria with 5.4% increase. In Greece the index was 2.1% higher on the year, while in Cyprus it went up by an annual 4.4%.
