Most members of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expect that 2014 will be a better year for their business than 2013, the Bulgarian News Agency, BTA, reported.
However, most employers do not plan to raise the wages of their staff, the news agency said, quoting the results of a BCCI poll conducted together with bTV ahead of Christmas 2013.
Last week, the National Statistics Institute said the business sentiment index in December dropped by 3.4 percentage points on the month after an increase by 1.7 percentage points in November.
The industrial sub-index decreased by 3.2 percentage points month-on-month in December due to the entrepreneurs’ negative assessment of the business situation in the sector and pessimistic expectations about the next three months.
The retail sub-index went down by a monthly 2.9 percentage points, whereas the business climate gauge in the services sector gained 1.4 percentage points on the back of the managers' expectations for an improvement in the environment.
