EIB Extends 150 Million Euros to Bulgarian SMEs

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed an agreement with the Bulgarian Development Bank on a 150 million euro loan, the European Commission said on Monday.
The loan will finance projects promoted by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and midcaps in Bulgaria. Under the same agreement, a 190 million euro loan will support the construction of a new combined-heat-and-power plant in Vilnius, which will act to reduce energy prices and cut emissions and Romania will receive 1.5 million euro to facilitate preparations for the construction of three regional hospitals.
The agreements represent a step towards improving the geographical coverage of the European Fund for Strategic Investments.
