EIB Expects 200 Million Euros of Investments in Bulgaria under New Loan Program

More than 200 million euros could be invested in Bulgaria through small and medium enterprises under a new scheme for bank loans, supported by guarantees of the European Union. The fund of the European Investment Bank (EIB) created under the “Juncker Plan" is aimed at stimulating growth and the creation of new jobs on the old continent. Part of the direct benefits to Bulgaria from the EU budget must go to companies that invest in risky ventures with high added value such as computer technologies, energy efficiency research and others. In order for projects to be more effective, funding would be combined with bank loans so that project approval would not depend solely on politicians but also on the economic assessment of the EIB.
