Econ Min Dragasakis: Measures to Enhance Cooperation between Enterpises are Needed

Measures and policies that will encourage cooperation between enterprises are necessary, government vice president and Economy and Development Minister Yiannis Dragasakis said on Friday, speaking in the Greek parliament.
"A new growth model is needed, in which the small enterpise, not alone but through cooperative formations, will become the main pillar of growth. It is our job to see with what incentives and laws we can achieve this," said Dragasakis to Parliament's Production and Trade Committee, during the discussion of a draft law on corporate transformation.
"One of the main structural problems of the Greek economy is the small size of holdings and enterprises. The small enterprises in Greece are much smaller than those in other countries. With respect to the need for extroversion in the economy, this is a serious problem," noted Dragasakis, while pointing out that an enterprise may have a very good product but be unable to access international markets due to its small size.
