Government vice president and Economy and Development Minister Yiannis Dragasakis discussed the problems of Greece's petrol market on Monday with Deputy Shipping and Island Policy Minister Nektarios Santorinios.
In the meeting, that also included the participation petrol station owners, talks focused on differences in the price of petrol being due to transportation costs, the structure of competition, particularly in local markets that in some circumstances have the characteristic of an oligopoly market.
The Economy Ministry announced that the government will prepare a broader political solution that will help solve structural problems in the market and that will help boost operations during the whole year. The ministry added that it is looking into, with the Shipping Ministry, subsidising the cost of transporting petrol to the islands.
