Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa North Section of Struma Motorway Opens to Traffic

The 14-kilometre Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa North Road Junction of the motorway linking the capital Sofia with the Greek border opened for traffic on Tuesday, the national road infrastructure agency said.
The construction of the 16.8-kilometre Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa section has been co-funded by the EU cohesion fund and the state budget, through operational programme Transport 2007-2013. The remaining three kilometres of the section will be launched by end-August.
The Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa motorway section includes four new bridges, 13 road overpasses and underpasses and a viaduct.
The Struma motorway, with a total length of 173.28 km, is part of pan-European transport Corridor IV.
