Dimitar Glavchev Elected President of the 44th Parliament with 157 Votes in Favour

With 157 votes in favour, zero against and 81 abstaining, Dimitar Glavchev was elected President of the 44th Parliament, FOCUS News Agency reports. He was the only candidate for the post.
In his first speech to Parliament, the newly-elected President expressed his hope that unity would be the keyword in the work of the National Assembly. “It is important to find solutions in priority areas such as education, health, social affairs and security. Europe is at a crossroads, and Bulgaria is to take over the rotating EU presidency. We will be facing important moments, for which, I am sure, we will find common ground,” he said.
