Digital TV coverage in Bulgaria stands at 96% of the country’s territory, TV transmission services provider NURTS said.
Less than 300,000 people are left with no access to TV after the phase-out of analogue TV on September 30, NURTS said in a press release.
Last week the chairman of the country’s communications regulator, Vesselin Bozhkov, warned that between 300,000 and one million Bulgarians would be left out of the digital TV reception map.
The digital television map consists of three networks deployed by NURTS Digital and First Digital. The network of First Digital covers 96.2% of the population and serves the public TV channels. The other two rolled out by NURTS cater for private TV channels and ensure 96.2% and 85% coverage, respectively.
The deployment of the networks for the digital switchover of over 7.1 million people took three years while the same analogue coverage was achieved in over 50 years, NURTS also said.
